The Iranian Calgary Choir is a Calgary-based vocal ensemble dedicated to celebrating Iranian music and culture while exploring the rich diversity of Western choral repertoire.

 

The choir performs a diverse selection of Iranian and Western music, bringing together traditional and contemporary Persian works alongside selected pieces from the Western classical and international choral repertoire.

 

The idea for establishing the Iranian Calgary Choir was first proposed by Ata Ghavidel in June 2025. Following the initial development of the project, the choir officially began its activities in December 2025.

 

The choir was founded by Ata Ghavidel, Mohammad Aghajanlou, and Bijan Meysami, with Ata Ghavidel serving as the choir’s conductor and artistic director.

 

Today, the Iranian Calgary Choir brings together approximately 60 singers and instrumentalists who share a passion for music, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Through concerts, cultural events, and ongoing musical activities, the choir seeks to create a vibrant artistic community and introduce the richness of Iranian musical traditions to audiences in Calgary and beyond.
